The Unity of Being (waḥdat al-wujūd), as the most foundational doctrine of Ibn Arabi's mysticism, has not only transformed traditional ontology but, through its emphasis on the inner unity underlying multiplicity, has also become amenable to comparison with the novel findings of quantum physics. By proposing the theory of the "Single Monad" and his distinctive view of time as something imaginary, cyclical, discrete, and observer-dependent, Ibn Arabi presents a cosmic model capable of reinterpreting some of the most significant enigmas of modern physics, including Zeno's paradoxes of motion and the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox. Contemporary studies demonstrate that concepts such as "wave function collapse," "quantum superposition," and the "observer effect" in quantum mechanics exhibit a remarkable structural affinity with doctrines such as the "immutable entities" (aʿyān thābita)—the levels of latent receptivities within divine knowledge—and the role of the Perfect Human as a participating observer in the objective realization of the world. Accordingly, not only is "reality" defined in both systems as dependent upon conscious observation, but the multiplicity present in the world is regarded as the locus of manifestation for the graded levels of the single divine Existence. This ontological correspondence opens the way for proposing novel models of cosmology and for resolving the conflicts between relativity theory and quantum mechanics through the redefinition of time and space as imaginary perceptions dependent upon the observer. The conclusion is that a comparative reading of the Unity of Being and quantum physics constitutes not merely a historical comparison, but a program for a paradigm shift in the understanding of science and religion.
